My Fixed Bridge Makes My Life Easier

When I had a badly decayed tooth extracted, I got a partial denture to fill in the gap. I didn't mind it at first, because I was just so happy to have my painful tooth out of my mouth. Over time, I began to get tired of taking it out at night. I asked my dentist if I was could get a dental implant, and he said that my gum disease did not make me a good candidate, but a fixed bridge may be a good option for me. I went with his suggestion, and I have no regrets. I love feeling like I have a real tooth again that I don't have to remove at night. I created this blog to remind other people with a missing tooth that they have many replacement options, and if one is not for you, then try another that may be right.

Back To School Dental Tips For Parents Of Elementary School Students

Dentist Blog

Just because it's time for your kids to return to elementary school doesn't mean it's time for them to start slacking on their dental hygiene! While mornings can be hectic times around your home, it's important to give your kids plenty of time after breakfast to brush and floss their teeth before the school bus arrives.

In addition to daily self-cleaning, your family should also follow each of these important dental tips now that the new school year is in session:

Tip: Schedule an Appointment for a Dental Cleaning and Exam

As with many other doctors, it can take a while to get an appointment with a dentist. So, while you are thinking about it and getting everything ready for school, make sure you call up your family's dental office and schedule an appointment for your children to have their teeth cleaned and a complete dental exam. Even if you can't get your kids in until the holiday season, once the appointment has been scheduled, then you can put it on your calendar and forget about it until the time comes.

Tip: Pack a Toothbrush and Toothpaste in Your Child's Backpack

It is always ideal if your children get into the habit of brushing their teeth after eating lunch at school. To encourage this positive behavior, you should pack a toothbrush and small tube of toothpaste in their backpack. Even if your child doesn't brush every day, it will be nice for them to have a toothbrush for those times when they really need one.

Tip: Pack an Apple or Carrot Sticks in Your Child's Lunch Box

Since it may not be realistic to get your children to brush their teeth at school after eating their lunch, you can help them clean off their teeth by packing an apple, carrot sticks, or another hard vegetable in their lunch box. As they eat hard fruits or vegetables anything stuck between their teeth will be dislodged.

Tip: Teach Your Children How to Deal with Dental Emergencies

Even young children are capable of being taught what to do in case of a dental emergency while they are at school. For very young children, you should teach them to find an adult and ask for their assistance.

Finally, older children who are starting to play organized sports should be instructed to soak knocked out or broken teeth in milk to preserve them while waiting to reach the local dental office.
