My Fixed Bridge Makes My Life Easier

When I had a badly decayed tooth extracted, I got a partial denture to fill in the gap. I didn't mind it at first, because I was just so happy to have my painful tooth out of my mouth. Over time, I began to get tired of taking it out at night. I asked my dentist if I was could get a dental implant, and he said that my gum disease did not make me a good candidate, but a fixed bridge may be a good option for me. I went with his suggestion, and I have no regrets. I love feeling like I have a real tooth again that I don't have to remove at night. I created this blog to remind other people with a missing tooth that they have many replacement options, and if one is not for you, then try another that may be right.

3 Things That Will Make You Feel More Comfortable When You Are Taking Your Child To The Dentist

Dentist Blog

Taking your child to the dentist for the first time can often be extremely stressful because you aren't sure how they are going to react. You fear having a screaming, terrified child at the dentist that you won't be able to control, but this definitely doesn't have to be the case. Children's dental offices are prepared to handle children, and the staff will do their very best to make your child happy and comfortable during their visit. This article will discuss 3 different things that will help you to feel more comfortable when you take your child to the dentist.

You Will Be With Your Child The Entire Time

One of the biggest fears that parents have when taking their child to the dentist is the thought of having to leave their child alone for any amount of time. Luckily this fear isn't at all necessary because you can be with your child the entire time. You can be with your child while they are getting their x-rays, while they are getting their teeth cleaned, and while they are getting examined by the dentist. They can hold onto your hand if they would like, and you can offer them words of comfort the entire time.

Dental Offices Are Equipped With Child Friendly Items

Dental offices that specifically see children have generally been created to be very child-friendly. They have toys, books, and electronic games in the waiting room, along with television sets that play cartoons and/or animated movies. The decorations with the office are also bright and colorful, and make a child feel as if they are in a fun place, rather than a medical location. Many of the new dental offices also have television sets on the ceiling that the children can watch while their teeth are being worked on.

Sedation Dentistry Is An Option

If your child needs to have a follow-up appointment after their initial check-up, then you have the option of sedation dentistry when this procedure is being performed. If the child is getting a cavity filled, a tooth pulled, or some other potentially stressful procedure, they may be very afraid and irrational. Sedation dentistry from professionals like Dr. Frank W. Sallustio completely takes this stress out of the equation because a sedative will be used to help calm your child. If your child is still not calm enough with the mild sedative, they can be put under a deeper sedative such as a general anesthesia.
