My Fixed Bridge Makes My Life Easier

When I had a badly decayed tooth extracted, I got a partial denture to fill in the gap. I didn't mind it at first, because I was just so happy to have my painful tooth out of my mouth. Over time, I began to get tired of taking it out at night. I asked my dentist if I was could get a dental implant, and he said that my gum disease did not make me a good candidate, but a fixed bridge may be a good option for me. I went with his suggestion, and I have no regrets. I love feeling like I have a real tooth again that I don't have to remove at night. I created this blog to remind other people with a missing tooth that they have many replacement options, and if one is not for you, then try another that may be right.

Tips for Whitening Your Yellow Teeth at Home

Dentist Blog

If you have noticed that your teeth are starting to appear a bit yellow, then you will be pleased to learn that there are many actions you can take to whiten them yourself at home. Since yellowing on the surface of your teeth is typically caused by staining from foods and drinks, you can safely remove the yellowed layer using each of the following tips.

Brush Your Teeth with a Baking Soda and Salt Paste

To quickly and safely remove the surface stains on your teeth caused by the things you eat and drink, you should brush your teeth with a combination of toothpaste, baking soda, and table salt.

Mix equal parts of table salt with baking soda in a small dish. Put some toothpaste on your toothbrush and then dip it into the baking soda mix. Brush your teeth with this combination for a minimum of a couple minutes once each day for the next week. The baking soda and salt crystals act as abrasives and will remove stains that are adhered to the external surfaces of your teeth.

Apply a Strawberry Paste to Your Teeth

After you have been brushing with the baking soda mixture for a week, then you can chemically whiten your teeth using natural strawberries. Strawberries contain a chemical that will safely bleach your teeth. To use strawberries for teeth whitening, simply smash a couple ripe strawberries in a small bowl and brush the paste on your teeth. Let the strawberries sit on your teeth to give them a bit of time to work before you rinse them off with clear water.

Brush and Floss Your Teeth Twice Daily

Once you have cleaned off the surface stains and whitened your teeth using the strawberries, then you should brush and floss your teeth at least twice each day. Additionally, you should brush your teeth if you eat or drink anything that contains strong pigments, such as coffee, tea, red wine, beets, and candy.

Additionally, you should avoid smoking because the nicotine in cigarettes will turn your teeth yellow as well.

Seek the Assistance of a Cosmetic Dentist

If you have followed each of the tips above and yet your teeth still look yellow, then you should make an appointment with a cosmetic dentist in your local area. While you can remove some yellow staining on your teeth at home, sometimes a professional teeth whitening treatment is required to achieve optimal results.
